Ryan White – Physiotherapist specialising in sports therapy

I have always had a great passion for sports, and over the last 15 years, I have developed my interest in sports injury into my specialism as a musculoskeletal (MSK) sports physiotherapist.

Training and specialism

I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2007 from the University of Hertfordshire after 3 years of training. From here, I had the opportunity to work for a year with Portsmouth Football Club Academy. This built my interest in the treatment and rehabilitation of sports injury and through this time I treated a wide variety of patients between the ages of 9-18. My role included providing match day pitch-side treatment and management, while, at the same time, I gained experience working in the MSK clinic at the club, treating and assessing various injuries and pathologies.

NHS and private practice

Taking this experience forward, I worked for the NHS as a Senior Physiotherapist for the MSK Lower Limb and Paediatric team and later, as a specialist for the Lower Limb, Spinal and Shoulder clinic at Barnet Hospital. Alongside my private practice, I have worked as an Extended Scope Practitioner in the NHS specialising in spinal conditions. I came to Redbourn Physiotherapy in 2016 and now provide specialist MSK sports therapy for a wide range of patients and sporting backgrounds.

Sports therapy at Redbourn Physiotherapy

I am experienced in all types of sports therapy, but I have a special interest in injury screening, running assessments, back and shoulder treatment, and rehabilitation. My aim is to get my patients back to their chosen sport through strong injury assessment, a tailored treatment program and ongoing advice for conditioning and self-management to mitigate further injury. My sessions are goal orientated with the patient’s end aims in mind. Each session will work towards continued progress and rehabilitation through close assessments. In this way, my treatment programs can be revised and adapted to respond to the patient’s specific rehabilitation needs.

I also work closely with the other skilled practitioners at Redbourn Physiotherapy to find the best options for you and to make recommendations on extended treatments that may aid your recovery and can help you reach your goals.
