Orthopaedics

We see many patients after various operations and have worked closely with Orthopaedic Surgeons to devise up to date post-operative rehabilitation protocols. In some cases we are asked to see the patient pre-operatively for :

  • Assessment of their function
  • Explanation of the operation & expected post-op course
  • Help with other areas of pain that may affect the post-op recover
  • To teach the post-op exercises so they are fully understood before the operation, thus helping to reduce the post-op anxiety around early mobilisation.

Orthopaedics is the area of medicine dealing with broken bones, joint problems including both the cartilage as well as the system of ligaments and muscles, which make them work.

Orthopaedic surgeons perform a vast variety of procedures from keyhole (arthroscopy) to joint replacements and fracture fixations.
